Made to last, with a little care.
Ribbed stretch knit keeps its shape for years when it is looked after gently. A few habits make the difference.
Washing
- Hand wash in cold water, or machine wash at 30°C on a gentle cycle inside a laundry bag.
- Wash with similar colours. Keep Soft White away from darker loads.
- Use a mild detergent. No bleach and no fabric softener, which can weaken the stretch.
Drying
- Gently press out water with a towel. Do not wring.
- Dry flat in the shade. Strong tropical sun can fade colour and dry out the fibres.
- Never tumble dry, and never dry on a hanger. The weight of wet knit stretches it out of shape.
Pressing
Steam lightly, or iron inside out on a low setting. Hanging it in the bathroom while you shower usually releases creases.
Storing
Fold your dress rather than hanging it. Knits stretch on hangers over time. Keep it somewhere dry and away from direct light, with a sachet of silica or cedar in humid months.
